Amber Perkins, Psy.D.
Early in life, I developed a keen curiosity about why people behave the way they do. This curiosity blossomed while I was pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Indiana University’s Southeast campus and continued to grow while pursing my master’s and Doctorate degrees from Spalding University in Louisville.
As a beginning clinician I envisioned myself primarily conducting psychological assessments to answer very specific referral questions. Although I still thoroughly enjoy engaging in psychological assessment activities, my true passion lies in conducting individual and group therapy.
I approach therapy with a collaborative mindset with each clients specific concerns, wants, and needs in mind. I also structure sessions in an individualized manner which meets clients where they are and guide them to where they would like to be.
Although I am open to working with clients across the lifespan, my primary interests lie in working with elementary-aged children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. Diagnostically speaking, my primary interests lie in treating individuals with presenting issues related to ADHD, Anxiety, interpersonal communication, disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders, identity development, and family of origin concerns.
When I am not working, I enjoy lounging around with my partner and dogs, reading fiction, hiking, cooking, and singing unashamedly off-key.
